Creating a more sustainable built environment
Ekotekt is a construction technology company founded in Helsinki, Finland, in 2021.
Before founding Ekotekt, we had worked as architects across several countries and repeatedly encountered the same challenges in construction: excessive material use, energy-intensive production and high carbon emissions. Yet practical alternatives suitable for mainstream construction remained limited.
We founded Ekotekt to develop better ways of designing and delivering buildings. Through several years of research and development, we explored new approaches to structural design, construction materials and production. The findings from this work led us to combine material-efficient design, bio-based materials and automated manufacturing, resulting in HempCon 3D.
HempCon 3D is designed to reduce environmental impact while working within familiar construction processes and supporting architectural quality, efficient production, transport and installation.
Production is based in Aarhus, Denmark where the first full-scale HempCon 3D external wall elements have been manufactured for a residential project in Denmark.
